Recommendations

There are so many choices out there which products do you choose?
We offer recommendations based on 23 years of field experience. We
have no interest in brand loyalty or which one is the cheapest, just
what we have seen to be the best the industry has to offer.
Pool & Spa Pumps
Our experience has shown that the Pentair Whisper Flow  to have
excellent performance and durability. Jandy's Stealth Pump is also an
excellent choice and has the best over sized strainer basket we've seen.
It's great for holding lots of leaves and debris. If you have the room for it,
this would be our top pick.
Pool & Spa Filters

We are huge sand filter fans. Regardless of the technical data on micron
filtration capacity, we have yet to see water quality that is consistently
better. Most municipal pools and many public facilities use sand filters.
They don't load up like Diatomaceous Earth or cartridge filters, are very
easy to backwash and very economical to maintain as there are no
elements or cartridges to replace and no disassembly needed to clean.
The only drawback is their size.

We recommend Baker Hydro and Pentair sand filters.
Pool & Spa Heaters

Heaters have fluctuated over time and used to be more of a "Ford vs.
Chevy" kind of thing.  At this time, we recommend Raypak Pool Heaters
as being the most reliable.
Hot Tubs

This is a Pandora's Box. There are so many brands out there with so
many gimmicks and gadgets it makes your head spin. A good rule of
thumb is to keep it simple. Find a good, local manufacturer if you can.

Proprietary purification systems are mostly gimmicks to keep you coming
back. Bromine is expensive and not all that it is cracked up to be by
some. Regardless of what is said about bromine being better in hot water,
when used properly, non-stabilized chlorine is our first choice as well as
the choice of most of the leading health clubs.

If you must have the plasma screen and surround sound, get an external
system, it will last longer and probably be cheaper. Please not that it is
not healthy to have your favorite adult beverage and stay in hot water
over an extended period of time as it raises your core temperature. It's
best to relax in the hot tub for 15-20 minutes and then get out and watch
your favorite movie.

customers recommend them and so do I.
Pool & Spa Controls

Choose a control system based on the features you want.

water. The most reliable systems we have seen for pools and spas are
the Eco-Matics. We have heard good things about Resilience but have
Chlorine generators for hot tubs are relatively new but use the same
technology found in their pool & spa counterparts. You know that we
favor the ColorChlor but go ahead and compare it to the Spa Pilot and
choose for yourself.

The only other one we know of at this time is the Purity Chlorine/Bromine
Generator with copper ions. Copper is highly effective for retarding algae
growth but the only time I have seen algae in a hot tub is when it had
stagnant, untreated water in it for a couple of months uncovered. Copper
is very likely to stain and turn your hair green.
